After much thought, I felt it was necessary to warn other teachers about this program. It is run by an American and he frequently goes through 2-3 teachers a year due to disciplinary issues with the students. The high school is in business to make money, will take anyone, and so will the International Program. No matter what the offense, nothing will be done so teachers just leave at the earliest available opportunity. It would be hard to describe what working here is like. Imagine a class room where students are sleeping, talking, refusing to complete work and top it all off with a very low level of achievement and you have chaos on a daily basis all day long. The owner is a salesman of sorts and, I'm guessing, keeps the contract because he will take anyone into the program. I had learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, in mixed abilities classes. I just can't convey to you how terrible it was, I lasted a short time only. The manager of the program is good at lying by omission but the result is the same. I've also heard from other people employed at the high school that the living conditions, apartment and food, no personal experience, are horrific. |
