Hello All,

Anyone know anything about, or worked for, this company called desert recruiting before?

MOD edit

Is it another outfit similar to QEC et al? Also it mentions Al Hasa & NITI which I recall have been mentioned on here before? Is this a good outfit to work for, or is there anything to be wary of regarding accom, payment, treatment and so on?

Cheers on,
S

There are heaps of threads concerning NITI. Look them up. I remember there being 3-5 as recently as eighteen months ago.

I taught at NITI for three months in 2014 and it was a bad experience. They forgot to pick me up at the airport, had me teach a class that day after I called them from the airport, the management was terrible, people quit every other week, they tried to nickel and dime teachers from overtime, etc.

Go at your own peril.

They're just another recruitment agency. Plus, they state that their "client is seeking..." in the ad.

You're not likely to find "recruitment" or "recruiting" indicated in the names of Saudi contracting companies that employ or sponsor teachers.

Proof positive the recruiters all know one another and pass our names and resumes around.

Desert Recruiting contacted me for a job and I never applied. They did say they got my contact info from their database.

True that. I am also sure there are "ghost" recruiters who put up an ad for a fictional job, and retain your info and pass it on. I have had emails to attend a job fair in the UK, that I never even enquired about!!!

Me neither. Dodgy recruiters outnumber the "legitimate" ones.

They did the same and said the same to me. Quite a few recruiters have mentioned the database as well.

Yep, I've had emails to attend job fairs from recruiters I've never heard of too, not to mention job info ! Re Desert Recruiting, I've heard of them and I've seen them advertising on the board. Not heard anything bad about them though.

Actually, I never dreamed of ghosting ads etc. But it makes sense. The recruiters must pull from this magical database.

So a group of recruiters set up a database, post ghost ads for jobs in order to get people's info to use when real jobs come up? If so, they must have had some kind of "conference" at some point to get this up and running !

It seems to be the case because I've been contacted several times by recruiters I've never heard of saying "we've seen your details on the database and thought you might be interested in this position..." and it continues to happen.

It's true that some recruiters cooperate with others; and exchanging information about teachers is one way that they do.

It's better not to complain to recruiters who send you job adverts/invitations to recruitment days: an ex-colleague of mine was, he acknowledged, rather abrupt with an agent who was bombarding him with e-mails.

The agent threatened to put him on a blacklist, which the agent claimed was read by all the other agents/recruiters.

I agree that can happen but if someone is being bombarded by emails from a recruiter and they have asked not to be contacted by them again and it's ignored, then it's hard to see why someone wouldn't eventually lose their cool. Either that or unsubscribe from emails. But sometimes even that isn't possible because there's often no unsubscribe link!

I'm wondering what we have discovered?

Not trying to be melodramatic, but I see above a database, ghosting ads for nonexistent jobs and now a black list??

I figured as in any industry, they all knew one another, but I guess big brother is here.
