Some of us have been getting solicitations from recruiters that we never applied to which has led many to wonder how and where did the recruiters get our info??
Some feel recruiters are getting the info from ghosting job ads. Meaning the ads are not real and never were.

And others are suggesting that there is also a Blackballed list that recruiters all share.

I don't doubt that with every industry the recruiters all know one another. Just putting it out there for public consumption, not being melodramatic.

Getting unsolicited emails is nothing new and isn't limited to TESOL. In the US, recruiters scout Linkedin profiles to fill vacancies in other professions.

Given that TESOL is a specific field, it's not unusual for some Saudi recruiters and contracting company personnel to know each other and freely share info on potential applicants. It's even worse for job seekers who post their CV on public job boards. As for nonexistent jobs, just because an applicant never got a response doesn't mean the position didn't exist.

I also doubt there's a recruiter-managed database of flaky or high-maintenance applicants. Recruiters have the job seekers' work history and can easily contact any previous Saudi companies the person may have worked with.

Hit delete if you're not interested.

I'm linking to the previous discussion on this because it gives some background and some interesting comments were made.

Thanks for linking.

Apparently more people "figured it out" that the recruiters were all in touch with each other, I guess most industries are like that.

Would like to hear from an insider if there really is a hidden database of names and people that have been blocked etc...

I think it is a bunch of hogwash that there is a secret database of all teachers. I DO think that a lot of companies change their name and that is why they email ELT's who think they never applied through them.

Either or, be careful with whatever job you consider taking: read the forums/ ask to speak to current staff/ make sure it has what you are looking for. A year in the desert is a long time especially when you have a terrible job that you have to do.

That is why a lot of the 20 something digital nomad types may prefer the business visa route I suppose. Gives them a boost of cash, and they can bugger off via Bahrain whenever they like, esp convenient if the job is in Dammam....the causeway to "sin city" is right there Twisted Evil Razz Cool Shocked Very Happy

Blocked for doing or saying exactly what during an interview or throughout the hiring process? Confused

There are posters on this forum who come across as very flaky and/or difficult, yet they have continued to secure work with different companies over the years. Based on your unfounded belief that recruiting agencies maintain some sort of blacklist database, these folks wouldn't be working in the kingdom.
