|
|
Anybody here with recent experience finding and renting out a clean, conveniently located apartment for their family in Jeddah?
I'm interested in finding a place near the King Abdul Aziz University campus, and I'm thinking my preliminary budget is around 40,000 SAR per year. Am I right in thinking I can find a comfortable 4 bedroom for this amount of annual rent?
Are there standard procedures that would lead to my finding something for this price, like enlisting the help of a local real estate agent?
Normally, can a place be leased by an American teacher for the school year part of an academic year (minus the 60 day summer vacation)?
It seems obvious that I would be required to rent it for the whole year if I wanted to keep it for my return after the summer. |

That facebook site isn't particularly useful for Americans and other westerners. Plus, some flats are only "available" to certain nationalities. There are Saudi real estate agents who help westerners find accommodations. Your fellow teaching colleagues often know of places as well. It's how friends of mine, a teaching couple with two boys, secured a nice unfurnished 3BR flat for 35,000 SAR in Al Naseem, near KAU. But that was five years ago.
I assume you're the sole earner for your family. Be sure your salary covers other expenses for a large family of, I'm guessing, at least five. |

Do NOT try to do this at a distance or using the internet. You MUST have "boots on the ground" to accomplish anything. |
