Not trying to squash anyone's dreams, but I wouldn't enter into ESL again.
Mainly because the jobs for teaching adults are not there in the U.S. There are plenty of jobs, BUT they are all part-time, and as myself and others were required to sign "no possibility of full-time employment, no insurance, no sick days, no holiday pay, no overtime, no prep time pay..." What an incentive to want to teach in ESL!!
Also, the salaries in the Middle East have greatly fallen. Not sure about old stand-bys like Korea etc...
Just saying for the newbies so they will have an idea of what they are getting into. Not trying to be Debbie Downer etc.. but I've talked to others who have said the same because of the employment or lack of.
I did post a similar post but on the General Discussion if anyone wants to take a look at other commentors' comments. |
