Today being the first day of classes for most public schools, I decided to make a post as I have a much tougher workload than I've been used to this year:

Subject: Science
Grade: 1-5
Classes/wk: 19
Students: approx. 800
Schedule: Mostly afternoon classes with mixed grades daily (Chinese, Math & English getting priority for morning classes).

Anybody with a tougher schedule?

1st month - eight writing classes and 201 students;
October onwards - six writing classes and 143 students;
No classes on Mondays, all mornings off.

I find this amount of university work fairly easy to manage in the system I work with.

Maybe you just choose the wrong place to work ?

186 students, 6 classes, 3 G11 and 3 G10. All EAP, so I teach the same lesson to 3 classes. 19 teaching hours. 30,000+ and free house off campus (well a stipend that is more than enough).

It's my fourth year at this school. It was a new school when I started and I only had 7 x 35min classes to teach in my first year Smile
The workload is not that bad really - 4 x 35min classes/day (3 on Fri). I have Grades 1-4 prepared from previous years. No homework to correct or admin tasks.
It's a great place to work but the number of students is getting a bit out of hand alright。
