The 65,000 claim is pie in the sky, with all due respect.
Kfupm are not high payers, especially to that extent.

The ad on Dave's from the recruitment company seems strange, as has already been commented on.

The ELD department have weeded out a lot of oldies, and my information is that they recently had 9 new teachers join (ELD not PYP).

It is funny Kfupm should go to a private recruiter route. They are located in Dubai apparently. It must be costing them an arm and a leg one would have thought. Something smells strange??

Teachers in the ELD ("The Jebel") were mainly recruited from those teaching on the Prep Year Programme (PYP). That was the way of it for years. Things are changing - and now recruitment is being handled by some consultant who will take teachers straight to the exalted heights of the ELD !

You're referring to this ad for EAP positions, http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/index.cgi?read=44827:

Quote:
The English Language Department (ELD) teaches three undergraduate English courses:
• An Introduction to Academic Discourse (freshman composition, reading and academic vocabulary)
• An Introduction to Report Writing (source-based writing and term report)
• Academic & Professional Communication (advanced research and report writing skills, recruitment strategies, business correspondence, and presentation skills).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Applicants need a first degree in any discipline with: a Masters preferably in TEFL/TESOL or Applied Linguistics; or a one-year postgraduate diploma in TEFL/TESL from an accredited university, or an RSA/UCLES DELTA. Applicants should also have a minimum of three years’ full-time teaching of EFL/EAP, preferably at the tertiary level, and have overseas experience.

COMPENSATION
Salaries
• Two-year renewable contracts
• Very competitive tax-free salaries
• End-of-service gratuity

Other benefits
• Generous leave
• Annual round-trip air tickets for faculty, spouse and two children
• Monthly transportation allowance
• Free furnished, air-conditioned accommodation with free utilities and house maintenance
• Educational allowance for school-age children...

There's no "strange smell" or red flag. It's likely KFUPM outsourced their recruitment needs to screen and possibly interview prospective candidates, especially if they expect to receive a lot of CVs. Job seekers still have to apply directly on the university's website and not to the third-party recruiter.
