OK let's add some perspective. 80 foreigners were indeed arrested, but 74 of them were from Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam etc. Only a handful of native English speakers were rounded up for illegal activity. |

These were undoubtedly locally-owned and operated K - 12 schools with an English language curriculum that lack proper accreditation, NOT true accredited international schools that offer the International Baccalaureate (IB). There are only 8 such schools in all of Thailand.

Yes, these "international" schools are profit-oriented businesses, so most of them are unable to attract native speakers, and actually prefer non-native speakers with fewer options who will not complain and will work harder for less money. The ones that got arrested are easily replaced. |
