Hi Everyone,
Do I need to copy all previous visas used to enter China to apply for a Z Visa? That would mean making copies from four different passports for me. Is this just applicable to any visas in the current passport? |

Good question - my passport is full of Chinese stuff, as is my last one.
I want to keep my new one pure of that. |

I don't think one would need to do this.
In my experiences in the past of going to the Chinese Consulate in New York City to apply for a Z visa, I haven't had to submit copies of previous visas. I have only had to submit a copy of the photo page of my passport along with the application and invitation letter from the school as well as another paper (notification of work permit).

Assuming you are applying for your Z at your local (home country consulate), sending previous pp shouldn't be too onerous.

Sure, if you have the old passports. Not everyone asks for them to be returned however. |

It's automatic in my country. The old one comes back with a big red 'CANCELLED' sticker.
Houston. You have a problem. |

What about people who have lost or stolen passports?
When I went through the process in the summer they only needed copies of my new passport. Both at the airport leaving and in HK getting the new visa I ran into questions about it. I had simply forgotten to bring it, and it was too late at that point. I just said it was lost and they let me through at the airport (issue was no entry stamp into China). In HK they simply asked me to write that into the notes section of the application. |
