I'm hoping someone can help me. My partner and I are looking to start teaching English in Taiwan in August. However, we both have degrees from UNISA (a distance education university in South Africa) and we have heard that only certain counties in Taiwan will accept distance education degrees. Could anybody please tell me whether this is true? Would we be able to get a job in Taiwan? If so, where do we look? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

If anyone outside of Public Schools audited your credentials, I would be as surprised as I could be. If anyone running a Buxiban even knew HOW to audit your credentials or cared to take the time and expense to do it, I would be baffled.

I know a guy working with British Council Taipei who has a degree he got MOD EDIT

I have run into Taiwanese claiming to be ABTs, working at high-end English schools near the science museum in Taichung.

So, you wanna go work in some odd place, it's probably going to be fine.

One bigger question about getting a reasonably good job (Like Taichung near the science center, mentioned above): Can you totally drop the South African Accent?
