I'm hoping to arrive in Japan with my girlfriend in the fall. My extensive research of schools with possible job openings at that time has led me to the 'American Language School'. It has 80 schools in 15 different prefectures and seems to fit our needs. Has anyone heard of this school and have any stories or advice to share? Also, i read on another thread quite a few people warning a newcomer to not get his hopes to high about life in Japan. I'll paste here part of what i wrote there and ask for your responses. (If you've allready replied, thanks)
I realize that many people have a romanticized notion of life in another country and that English teaching in particular can be a real drag but what are you all doing there? And for so many years no less. Who here would make the same choice if they knew then what they do now? And not just because it 'made you a better person' or 'whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger'. Who has really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others, all caveats aside? And what would you do differently? Looking forward to your responses. |
