A lot of job offers are getting thrown at me. I got about 10 public school offers in 2nd tier cities. Then Shanghai and Beijing private kindergartens are wanting me.
I like that they both go by the Monday-Friday schedule. The weekends off is very important to me.
The kindergartens are catching my eye more because the schools look very clean and fancy. They are 5 floors high with about 15 western teachers each, and the free apartments that they give also look very fancy. |

The public school is offering 13,000. The kindergartens are offering 18,000-19,000.
Public school 20 teaching hours a week. Kindergarten 25 teaching hours a week. |

I imagine you’ve decided by now, but in case anyone else has a similar choice to make... I’d probably choose the public school since that would be less of a work load (both because of the hours and the older students). 25 hours a week teaching only kindergarteners can take a lot of energy.
But if you have the energy for it and you’d rather live in Shanghai or Bejing...then the private kindergarten might be the way to go. |
