I’ve had an offer in Beijing.
I’m not sure if my centre will give me an early release letter, thus allowing me to move seamlessly at the end of my current contract.
If indeed they don't, what are my options?
I have 5 months left on my current contract. |

The job offer in Beijing is after your current contract ends? If you are finishing your contract, you SHOULD be able to get the paperwork in time to change jobs. But that doesn't mean it will happen. Your best option is to have the new employer negotiate all this directly with your current employer, and for you to maintain a good relationship with your boss. Employers have FAR TOO MUCH POWER in China concerning this paperwork. They can really screw over employees they don't like who are trying to move on to other jobs in China. It is good to be like the Chinese and quietly smile a lot at the end of your tenure as opposed to speaking your mind over injustices on your way out the door.
If you want to leave your contract 5 months early, they probably won't be cooperative with you. |

yes, the Beijing job will start a few days after my current contract ends.
My current employer has been pretty cool. However, they say they cant commence the transferring process until 2 months prior to the end of my contract.
Thus, I hope Beijing are patient enough for me.
I suppose i'll just sign the contract and hope for the best.
Failing that, I'll keep an open mind about staying in Jiangsu (my current province) with an alternative employer. |
