Hi there. I'm new to this forum thing but would be grateful for any help you guys can offer.

I have accepted a job in The British School Al Rehab, Cairo, teaching primary and was wondering if anyone knew any additional information about the school - perhaps you work there, used to work there, live(d) in the area or just anything that you may have heard on the grapevine.

The school website used to be informative but it has since been replaced with a smaller site which is less than useless.

Any info??? Anyone??? Please!

Thanks in advance.

i have a friend that lives in Rehab. The area is very nice, lots of greenery, very secure. It is a gaited community, lots of foreigners. It is a very new community, very pretty BUT,,,,,,,,,,ISOLATED! IF you dont have a car it is difficult. There is a bus that goes around the Rehab area within the walls and a bus that goes every hour (i think) to the outside areas. It is always so crowded. There is a mall in the Rehab area that is nice. Not many stores and everything is extremely high in pounds because of its isolation.

Well thats that. I hope i was helpful. I plan on going to egypt in July.

Hi,

I have been offered a post at the British School in Al Rehab.
Two weeks into term time so it is a bit daunting!
Can anyone who has started there please let me know anything about the school!

Thanks
Beth

As you can see, this message got no reply in 2004 when it was entered or after the second message in June of this year. I doubt the school has many EFL teachers...

I just visited the school because we are relocating from California to Egypt for a 2 year assignment. The school has all certified teachers and the class size is small. I still haven't decided which school to select for my children because there are several fantastic schools in Cairo. This area is very quiet, clean and organized and it is very similar to the American lifestyle.

No response to the post for how long? Today a friend tells me that this school has just advertised for English-speaking teachers in the UAE's Gulf News! Interviews to be held in Dubai next week.

Now who's gonna leave the UAE for Egypt?!? Laughing

Good question Eyda... Though to be honest, I would prefer Cairo to Dubai... but I'm probably an exception. Laughing

Thanks for posting Candace, but unfortunately, very often schools that seem fine to parents and students are still not good employers. The small class sizes sounds good. If you have any choice, definitely send your kids to CAC in Maadi... no competition at all to it in Egypt. (and they treat their teachers extremely well)
