Hi Everyone,

In college, most liberal arts courses I know read a book a week.

We discussed it in class, wrote a paper and maybe took a final. That was that.

As a teacher, can I replicate something in the ESL way, and managed to get paid for it?

I see many university level teaching jobs might have this.

To me, I hate lesson prep and I hate grading. This might be a way to minimize this, but also get to do some interesting work.

I think reading either popular or well-respected novels can be very enjoyable and educational. It seems the hallmark of education to be well-read, and have discussed it with peers.

If you teach literature, that is what you do. I do something similar, I teach AP Literature at a high school. Only problem, there is quite a bit of assessment. You do have to give both formative and summative feedback on the work the students do.

Yes if you teach English majors.I got this in Chinese Uni and it was wonderful- first semester English lit, second semester American lit. Curriculum- whatever I wanted. IT was really enjoyable both for me and the students.
