Hello All,
I am a newbie Shocked
considering going to Asia (Japan, Korea, and Taiwan). I have read various discussion forums, and have learned that people of color have a hard time finding employment in these countries. I also found that Korea is perhaps the most xenophobic and overtly racist of the three countries. In addition to all that I read, a recruiting company confirmed that they would have a hard time finding me placement in Korea, and suggested that I try Japan or Taiwan, where I will probably find it a little easier to find a job.
The consesus on this board is to stay away from recruiters!! However, I was wondering if, as a non-Caucasian (South Asian), my chances of finding work through a recruiter would be better than if I were to just show up and try to find a job on my own?

A recruiter is just a middleman. He can't disguise what you are. Again I would say stay away from recruiters, they are not your friends.

Fact: The Nova Group in Japan employ South Asians and blacks.
Fact: Kojen in Taiwan hire South Asians and blacks.

These probably wouldn't be people's first choice for employment, but both offer steady work and a guaranteed salary at the end of the month and help relocating.

They would also offer you a spring board in order to find your feet and find out what the real situation is like.
