|
|
Hey all
I've been trying to apply to Chinese universities for September starts but without much luck so far- I was wondering if it was actually getting too late to apply. The guy at Nanning University told me he had no more vacancies, but this seems in direct contradiction to the PRC law that everything must be done at the last minute...
I've also had the common (I think) experience of contacting loads of places and having nothing back- would it be better to write in (extremely basic and probably downright wrong) Chinese than in formal English, so at least it gets read?
And finally... I've been using abroadchina.org- does anyone know what the 'hit rate' is with this? It seems odd to input a sketchy career and qualifications summary and then just hit an 'apply' button, but for most of the universities on there I can't find a more direct and personal way to email them.
So... if anyone's still awake, any help on the above points would be super, smashing, and great. Or if anyone's got a really good university/college job in the south of China that they'll be leaving, that'd be even better...
Happy everyday, y'all. |

There can't possibly be that much of an oversupply of teachers that all the University jobs are filled up already, although of course time is quite tight now for starting the new term.
I've just taken one position in a University (well last week). I had loads of offers, the websites I used to look were : this one, www.tefl.com, www.china-tesol.org and www.chinatefl.com (NB: I got loads, like 20 or so, of emails wanting me to apply after I put up my details on that last website).
You don't mention your level of qual/exp. , that's always relevant of course.
Anyway good luck. |

Yes, I agree with the last poster. It is a little late, but that might be to your advantage. Some schools are scared they won't find anybody, and might not make you go through so many hoops. I'd start trying again -- I bet you'll get something this time. |
