If youre thinking of coming to Tainan, Taiwan to teach, I think you might be interested in reading this series of events involving an English teacher here and a local school.

Check here for the info under the "Thursday, Jul. 08, 2004 - 11:04 p.m." Posting- If you are looking for the China Post apology info"

Or else you ought to think twice before posting information on a board when you don't actually know what you are talking about. Too many people are willing to post, anonymously, things which they've heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone.

The lesson seems to be that you shouldn't go around spreading unfounded rumors. If you post something, you ought to be prepared to back it up with some form of evidence. Otherwise it amounts to libel.

It is the severe, defensive action of the school that worries me.
The poster, although being a bit careless posting their name, was simply stating what he had heard. Rumor or truth? Who knows!

Got to agree with Wood. If somebody said something about my business, somebody who had not ever been to my store, but relied on rumours from others I would damn well want an apology too

How do you say slander in Chinese?
