Samhain is a few months away and teaching English abroad is what we're all here for. Unfortunately, this forum is probably one of the only ways we can get "insider" information. The kind of information that is vital to us before we take the plunge and move to teach in a distant land.
Was it the pay, students, water, where you lived, culture clash, etc. that was such a nightmare?
I know you all have got some. I want to hear them!
Be sure to include THE YEAR that this happend. (For example, what may have happend in Moskow in 1979 may not still be happening today!)

2001 Korea - hagwans
Children hanging from the ceilings, grumpy and mean director, xenophoic Koreans, having to do split shifts all led to a fairly unhappy existence. I resigned after three months and went on to greener pastures in Taiwan. |

English Time TEFL mills in Istanbul. Hourly pay, visa runs, no minimum salary, no holidays, no sick pay, fake certs and fake degrees, DOSes with no degrees, nutters doing runners and stinking of drink and management that should be running a military prison. |

What does Samhain have to do with "horror"? Its a Wiccan/pagan holiday honoring the dead. "Halloween" would be more appropriate.
Just my 2 cents... |

October 31st "Halloween" or Nov 1st "Samhain" both serve the same purpose, people are going to dress up like spirits - blahblahblah in both cases horror stories were told for amusement. So far a few other readers have posted and have understood what the topic is about. But since you've obviously missed the point; let me help you.
If you have worked OUT OF your native country and have had a BAD experience in doing so- talk about it. |

For some people who post on Dave's, it seems almost every day is the first day of November. |

Korea was tough. It takes somebody tough as nails to make it there. I did, but I wouldn't want to do it again.
It took a year in Poland to recover |
