Hi Everybody I just wanted to tell you about a really positive experience I had with an agent (at least I think they were an agent). I was looking for a summer school in China but couldn't find any that would pay a good salary so in desperation I tried an agent I found through a link upon a link and he managed to get me a job paying 12,500 RMB for one months work!!! I'm now at the school and the job is fantastic and I would just like to thank this guy publically. When I e-mailed him he sent me a questionaire asking about my dream job in Asia which I then filled in and returned and within 24 hours (his promise) I got my job offer. I don't know if I was lucky or if this agent always provides such good service so please tell me is he good? or was I just lucky? you can contact him (the agent) at:
[email protected] and see the web page I found at

It's not ......... honest but I know what you mean after I read it I thought it was a bit one sided but at the time I was just really happy with my new job. If you think this is cheap advertising you should see the website the agent uses that is so cheap you couldn't give it away. Anyway the real test will be if I get paid i'll update everybody then. |

So, in fact, you do not actually know if you are to be paid 12,500 RMB for a month, then. This is quite some addition to your original message, to say the very least. I doubt very, very much that you will. After all, why should you? Why should this recruiter - who you have plugged to the hilt - pay you a single Yuan more than he has to? If you are to get 12,500 RMB - which is an impossible dream - then that means he is getting, at least, 20,000 RMB. He could quite easily have given this post to someone only expecting 5,000 RMB, thus pocketing vastly more cash. I think it is called 'business' (or something akin to that).
I suspect that, come payday, you will discover that 'it would have been 12,500 RMB if you had worked 24 hours a day; that is how the pay is calculated' (or some other similar garbage).
Please let us know the outcome of this as I am now very curious indeed to see how they are to fiddle you out of your promised salary!
Do you have a valid visa for this month (stupid question as this would be impossible)? If not, then do not expect to get paid. |

Two comments about your reply.
1) I do not apologize for posting the agents details on daves esl cafe. This should be how the system works if somebody provides you great service you should tell other people so that they can benefit. This extra business is a reward for those that produce results and make people happy. Of course if things go badly you must also warn people about bad agents schools etc. so that these agents and schools struggle or are forced to improve their service.
2) When I first read you reply I went into a panic because you hear so many bad stories and what you said seemed to make sense so I started to worry. However after a short think I feel better as the school has treated me very well so I hope they will pay me. Of course I will not know for sure until August 6th (pay day). Any advice if things go wrong with pay? |

At the end of the day, it's a month, innit? So if you get paid you can get a yacht or go on a holiday for a few years or hire that hitman you've always wanted, and if not stick a warning on here and then maybe wreak terrible vengeance, or something. The job doesn't sound like it's causing you physical pain...
One more option: you are getting the money, but the kids you've been teaching are actually all:
a) the kids of the Chinese mafia, whose parents will be 'most upset' if their English isn't tip-top by the end
b) the kids of the CCP- ditto
c) actually tiny spies who will go on to infiltrate the top ranks of our beloved western governments. Did you wonder why they had to learn 'nuclear secrets', 'microfilm' and 'the name's Wang. Xiao Wang.'? |
