Okay, okay, I was new to this group once as well so I am a forgiving sort. However, I wonder if Dave or someone could throw in a sticky that discusses Chinese salaries? It seems like every other post these days is asking about salaries. Is "X" a good salary if I'm going to "Y"? I'm sure a stickie would help a lot of people.

What confiused me before arriving was the difference in salary offers. In Japan Taiwan etc the offers are all the same give or take 100 bucks. But China you see 2200RMB up to 14000. Generally though you 3000-9000 at least where I look....Before arriving I was weighing offers of 3500 and 7000...A 100% difference. (The 3500 was the better offer after reading the fine print. Considering overtime, flat, location, class size etc.)

A sticky wouldn't work--there are too many variables and opinions...We would never reach a conclusion!! Wink Is 5000 a good salary in Shanghai? No you say. It might be if flat airfare and utils are all included..And a soft schedule that allows overtime . Is 5000 a good salary in Qufu? Yes man you'll be rich..No because you will be bored to tears and booking into a hotel in Beijing every weekend...

Read the fine print is my advice...
