HI

I have read some of the native/ non-native discussion topics and I understand all the pro's an con's... Still... I have some questions Smile

I'm very interested in teaching English in China and currently taking a TEFL course.
I'm Dutch, I've had English lessons since the age of 7 (now 27), a masters degree in biology, and worked in the USA (teaching horse back riding to children). I've often been told by native english speakers that I'm fluent and people often think I'm from New York.

My questions are: what are the job opportunities for a fluent non-native English speaker in China? What are your experiences?

Thanks!!

Though a native speaker myself, I know that it's very easy for non - native speakers to find jobs in the People's Republic. In my little city, for example, there are two working in the local middle schools. So it can be done.

Some schools here are just as interested in the color of your skin as your teaching qualifications. But with an MA, TEFL, and near - native fluency, you should be able to land a really good job. Just head over to

chinatefl.com

or one of the other job sites and start looking! The employment prospects for non - native speakers in this country are still quite good!

Welcome to TEFL!
