I am a Canadian who is going home for 3 weeks in August, and had to get a round trip ticket to Toronto from Narita.

I had a difficult time so say the least securing a decently priced ticket and wonder if there is anyone else out there who experienced something similar to Toronto this August?

I got quoted the cheapest price via Korean Airlines at about 121,000 Yen, but couldnt get a ticket as it was 'booked'. I had to settle on Continental through New Jersey USA for 166,000 Yen. Pretty steep, and I feel I probably could have done better if I had continued searching perhaps, but perhaps not. I've gone back to Toronto for as little as 80,000 in April, so I was quite disappointed at this price. Anyone care to share their experiences?

Willy

Yes, you are discovering the joys of being a teacher- all of our vacations are in peak season. (In Japan, August has got to be the most expensive time to travel.) In Korea, people make a lot of multiple bookings for their airline tickets so that they won't have to cancel their holiday if their boss tells them they have to work overtime at the last minute. It drives hoteliers nuts, so they insist on a deposit, but I guess KAL still allows multiple bookings without a deposit. Keep trying back; they get a lot of last minute cancellations. A friend of mine runs a discount ticket booking business. Her website is www.nzlifetours.com

good luck
