After several years of doing this gig, I'd be interested in knowing wat your answers to these are:
Your most favourite aspect of English to teach.
Mine for the record is homphones and homonyms. Great fun !
Your least favourite:
Mine ? Modals. esp will/would, can/could
The most difficult aspect to teach
I find contrasting ' I have done' and 'I did' gets a great many of them scratching their heads just about every time no matter how many different ways i present it.
The easiest to teach:
In my case; countables and uncountables
In addition, rather than submitting a new post, are there any professed rules by so called EFL textbook authors that irk you ?
These are some of mine
1.That we must say 'If I were you' rather than ' If I was you'. Does it really matter nowadays ? Besides in having to pass a test, perhaps.
2. That the passive must be avoided at all cost in technical/scientific report writing. My view ? If you need it, use it. If not, don't.
3. That 'might' can be used as the past of 'may' and that 'copuld be' is more probable than 'might be' and 'may be' even less probable. Really ?
