I can fill you in on the aesthetic aspects of these two towns but I can't tell you much about jobs since any employer in China has his own reputation.
ZHANJIANG is indeed in Guangdong; precisely in western Guangdong, not far from the sea that forms there a strait between the mainland and Hainan island.
You can reach Zhanjiang by train (preferable!) or by bus; it's some 450 kms from Canton aka Guangzhou, or if you come from HONG KONG, add another 150 kms.
The town is nothing to write home about, though; it has a university that specialises, so I hear, in CHinese medicine.
The relative advantages of this place are to be located within a short bus ride (some 6 hours) to Guilin and Yangshuo, in Guangxi, or to Hainan.
As for KUNMING, enough has been written about it; it certainly has more charm and a more benign climate.
But jobs are definitely scarcer in Kunming than is generally desired. |

Hi!..
I'm going back to Zhanjiang for my 2nd year. Which university or school are you referring to in Zhanjiang??
Skycrapers?? uhhmm.. I don't think there are any over 50 stories. Pollution wise if you're out of town like myself, as my students usually say.. the air is fresh! *grin*
Zhanjiang is 10 hours by bus from Hong Kong and 6 hours from Guangzhou. There's a big beach about an hour from the city proper.
There's Mcdonalds and KFC and Trustmart.. It's a small city with a bit of night life..
If you plan to take the offer in Zhanjiang, PM me.. I could show you around town.
