Greetings all,
My partner and I are considering moving to Vietnam, Hanoi hopefully, to teach in the next couple of months. We're Australian, both have degrees and a fairly good command of the language (I've been working as an editor for the last couple of years) and are also investigating various courses.
The CELTA looks good, but is fairly expensive here in Australia. The only TEFL course that I could find in Melbourne is by a company called Teach International, an Australian-Pacific organisation. The feedback that they provided is fairly good, but I was wondering if anyone out there has trained with them before. My key concern is that the course only comprises five days of 'in-house' training while the rest is completed online. Does anyone have any feedback or comments on such a course?
Any help or advise would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Simon

Surely TEFL International aren't the only ones running teaching courses in Melbourne. TEFL International's certificate is only of any use if you want to get a job at one of the lower quality (ie lower wages) schools. It is not recognised by quality schools in the same way that the Trinity and Cambridge certificates are. But it's better than nothing and they can provide you with leads/jobs in some countries.

I must admit that what I'm posting may be hearsay but I heard from a friend who has just completed a TESOL Post-grad certificate at Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus (I graduated from there) that Teach International shouldn't be touched with a ten-foot pole because it is considered to be a fraudulent organisation which guarantees employment after you complete their certificates or your money back.
