|
|
Hi:
After my work visa expires, is there anyway I can extend it into a temporary tourist visa while still in the country (or some other similar option)? I would like to spend a little time in Japan after I finish working and don't want to have to leave the country to get another visa. Does anyone know what my options would be?
Thanks!

If your Japanese is adequate, a good way is just to go down to your local immigration office and ask them directly. Unless you are illegal when you speak with them, they will give you an honest answer. (Bring your passport whenever you go to immigration... They ALWAYS look at mine, even if I come to ask something.... I'm sure if I wondered in by accident looking for the bathroom they'd check it)... They usually look (and sound) mean... But I've done it on several occasions in the past and it was always good to get the answer directly from the horse's mouth. |

Well, I am actually looking for anyone who was in the same situation as me and can let me know what they did. I had planned on speaking with immigration in the end, just curious now.
