Hi,

I'm posting for the first time and I'm hoping to get some advice about teaching in Latin America.

I'm currently teaching in a NYC public school (middle school) and I've had some experience teaching high school. I'm finishing my masters degree in TESOL (k-12) and would like to teach in Latin America sometime in the near future.

Other than traveling around Europe, I've been to Colombia a few times (I have family living in Bogota.)

I'd like some basic advice regarding the process of looking for a job in Latin America. At this point I have no specific country in mind.
I'd appreciate any advice you guys have.

Thanks!

You have a lot of choices ahead of you. first, consider timing. Anywhere you go, you'll be asked to stay 6 months to 1 year...the longer the better. You should be able to get into a university Eng. dept with that Master's.

In South America, the new school year starts in March. It might be a little late for uni, but if you want to, there are private language centers where you could work.

Mexico and Central America start in September...now is the time to be checking out unis. Mexico probably offers the best by way of wages. Think Guadalajara, Monterrery, or Mexico City.
