Anyone know a good place to take a job in Taiwan so I can ride a bit(mountain bike) and teach? I worked and biked in Korea on Cheju-do island a while back and want to do same in Taiwan....... Also--- what's the cost of a decent mountain bike there-- just basic with aluminum frame and piddling Shimano Deore parts.......trying to decide if I should bring my bike or not......Thanks!!!

Don't bring your bike unless you are really attached. Taiwan makes GIANT bikes--great bikes. with all kinds of bells and whistles, titanium frames, dual suspension that individually adjusts--all that jazz. They are extraordinarily reasonably priced too. We imported a foldable Giant bike from Taiwan to Europe, and saved E300 from the local cost for a gorgeous red bike. Buy locally and save your weight limit.

If you liked Chejudo--that reminds me of the Hualien/Taroko Gorge area, which is like the Grand Canyon of Taiwan. The Central Mtn range is really scenic (colocated). The mtns will give you a workout. The people are down to earth. There are cool Chinese temples, pagodas, and Buddhist statuary dotted thorughout Taroko. (But Korea has older bldgs.)Sounds like you'll like it--but if not, you can move on to other employers legally.
