I would like to find a position in Hainan (on Hainan??) beginning around the end of October/start of November. Has anybody worked in and enjoyed any particular institutions or schools that they can recommend to me?
From reading some of the threads it seems like a good route to go would be a public school, but the late start might be a problem. Regardless, any contacts or good experiences you can pass my way would be greatly appreciated.

Chris

My website has a few regulars from Hainan, as well as several reviews of schools in Hainan, (mostly kindy/elementary schools), and might be worth checking out. The link is down below, in my signature.

Why would you want to teach in Hainan?

To my knowledge - there are very few good schools over there. Beware of sharks hiring you illegally. Hainan is a nice place to tour and holiday but you will need a good survival instinct to live there longer.

I taught in Wuzhishan in the middle of the island and enjoyed it and the people in the town very much. As with most students, some were motivated, and some not, but as they were all in their final year of University they all seemed to pay attention.

I'm now headed back to Hainan again, and wanted to go back to this island as it seems to agree with me and my lifestyle. Roger, I have a lot of respect for your postings, but you should give Hainan a try for longewr than a holiday.... It's really a laid-back place with eautiful beaches all around the island, not just Sanya....

Hi -- visit my website -- www.ieea-china.org/www.hainan.motime.com
I've lived in Hainan since 1993 and enjoy an excellent working relationship with the Provincial and City government. We are looking for native English speaking teachers who have EXPERIENCE.

Should advertisements such as the above be paid for Question

And do please note the salary for experienced teachers at the website:

Quote:
SALARY - 2500 to 3500 Yuan. Depending on education and experience levels.

US$400 a month? Twisted Evil
That is nothing more than an outrageous rip-off for any self-respecting teacher.

And let’s not get the story about how the cost of living in China is low – plus you get a free dog box to live in – for free. Yes, it’s free – plus free lunch at the school too. Yummy Exclamation

I can hardly wait to sign up as a slave in some mosquito infested swamp and be feed more nonsense like this.

Let's add point number 8:

Expect to be preyed upon by sharks, some are from local waters- others not!

Absolutely, positively she should. The next time she posts a link to her recruitment website, disguised as a public service announcement, I am sending an e-mail to Dave.
