Myself and a couple of friends will have holiday in Phuket. I know this might not be a "cool" question.... but, where is a decent place to stay? The whole island looks beautiful!!!!! We want to stay near the beach(the best beach, if that is possible being that the whole island looks wonderful). Since we are on holiday, we do not mind spending a little cash for a nice pad. We are not trying to "back pack it". At the same time, we do not want to pay a fortune for a hotel.....
I noticed that some one else posted something about vacationing in Thailand. It got over a 160 hits, but no one replied....
Like I said, I know this is not a "cool" question. But if any of you have any words of wisom, it would be much appreciated!!!!
Peace,
Michael |

Haven't been to Phukett yet, but here's what worked for me when I was in LOS a couple years ago...I winged it with a Frommer's travel guide for a few days and got mediocre hotels in Bangkok an Pattaya. Went to a TAT office in BKK, told them what I was looking for, booked a couple of nights through them in Hua-Hin at a nice discount, then got a better rate from the hotel itself after I was there. $17 per night including b-fast at a Holiday Inn style hotel 1 block from a secluded beach. Go in September if you can, you should be able to get off season prices and good weather!! Happy travels!!!!! |

PATONG beach can get very expensive. im staying in rawai beach and i can get pretty cheap accom....400 baht a day(air conditoning, tv, dvd, small pool...near nai harn beach(very quit). rawai beach is ver close to kata beach(very nice!) and nai hang(spelling?..nice and quit) i go to patong on the weekends to party and during the day to relax in the sun(sometimes)...its a 30 min ride....i rent a motor bike, its dirt cheap. i prefer to stay in rawai beach b/c its quiter and not 2 many foreigners.....but if u want the 24/7 action with tones of lady boys and toursit.... and dont mind to pay the extra money then Patong is the way to go by a long shot |
