Hi Everyone,
Would you travel in Turkey with an Australian army issue camoflage backpack that you picked up for free and was solid gold to travel with? Do you think this pack would attract unwanted attention?
What is the general Turkish attitude to American-led forces currently in Iraq? In your view, what's the atmosphere like in the Turkish community re the issue of Western aggression and imperialism?
How do Turkish people honestly feel about Americans and Australians?
Apologies in advance if I'm rehashing an old subject, but I missed any previous posts answering these questions.
I've travelled with this army pack thru many countries with no hassles, but thought I might be cutting it close in a country neighbouring Iraq right now. Your thoughts? |

You have nothing to worry about. The Turks aren't happy with our current administration (and not many are), but as far as Americans personally, they actually like them. Of course if you go around flag-waving and being a total jerk, they won't like you. It's all up to you. |

I agree with Gelin. In fact if you plan on travelling around the south East (mainly Kurdish) then you will find so much hospitality you will be overawed. |
