i need to start a new love-hate relationship with another country soon!

may sound like a strange request, but i just need some idea of what i might be getting into and my only experience has been 5+ years in japan...

im wondering if anyone here has had experience teaching in public/international schools in japan and might give me some kind of comparison with the schools in turkey.

for example:
-content of classes
-english levels of students
-relationships with colleagues
-after school (club) activities
-extra duties
-anything else!

also, what are the main obstacles you face in your work and social lives in turkey? i do make fast friends and i have loads of turkish pals scattered about, but i'm still anxious to know more about life for a foreigner there.

No-one else has responded thus far so I'll put in my two-penny-worth.

We have two teachers who previously taught in Japan for a year and have just signed up to teach a second year in Turkey.

Some things seem to be comparable (IELTS experience is useful), others different (students tend to be more vociferous here).

Socially in Turkey anything is possible. Life is probably a lot easier for women, from what I gather.
