Question Any information or leads (and better yet, experience!) about four or six month contracts would be so helpful!!!! I have a BA and would like to teach but cannot be out of the country for a full year. I am open to different areas and of course, would like to go where the money is. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Go to Japan with Nova. The countract will be valid for one year, but you can leave on 30 days notice. I think they might not be able to legally hire you if you indicate that you aren't going to stay for the whole contract. By the way, most teachers don't stay for the whole year.
I went to Japan with them and stayed for four months. I followed all their rules, and gave them the required notice. Nobody said, "Boo," when I left. If you know exactly how long you're going to stay, you can even book a return ticket from your home country. That will save you a tonne of money over buying aone-way ticket from Nova, and then buying a one-way ticket to get home. I recommend your local Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) branch. They should be able to hook you up with a well-priced ticket.
If you have any questions, fire away.

Japan is very expensive if you want to make decent money there. I don't know where you are right now, I'm in Canada. I leave for Henan Agricultural university in sept on a 4 month contract, roundtrip airfare paid, visa, medical, single apt on campus 3 meals a day in the school cafe, utility allowence etc. $1000 cnd in my bank acct here and $900 cnd (converted to RMB paid there). This is a very high salary for China but because the private school the hired me is here in Toronto it works out. Private Schools here have arrangements with Canadian univerisites and Chinese universities so the private school can afford to pay me this much since after 1st year in china students come here, pay crazy tuition to the private school and then after their 2nd year get to transfer to a public university here. So it is possible to find a high paying job with all the perks for 4 months if you have your BA. Good luck!
