				| I am interested in teaching in New Zealand and was just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the the situation for Americans in NZ regarding job opportunities. I have a Masters and 5 years experience teaching in the US and Japan.

				| Kia ora, Yes, Americans can work in New Zealand. I did work in New Zealand until recently. Unfortunately there has been a rather severe contraction in the ESOL market. However, with your qualifications you should be looking into the polytechs and university language centres. The pay is on par or a squidge better than the private language schools and the benefits are better.
What you basically need is a work offer and your employer needs permission from NZIS to sponsor you for a work permit. Go for the maximum three year permit. It means a police clearance and health check, but overall the forms are dead-simple and NZIS is pretty easy to deal with.
 Good luck...

				| So how does it work getting a police record check if you are living in Korea outside of the states? | |

				| Go to your local cop shop, get your fingerprints done and send the prints and an $USD18.00 money order along with a letter stating your reasons (simple and to the point) to the FBI in Charleston West Virginia. I can't recall the exact address. Do a Google. Good luck. NZ is beautiful.
