i've got my degree, my CELTA, i speak a little spanish, but just lack the 1 year's experience that most jobs advertised for spain seem to be looking for...so haven't had any positive responses to the job applications i've submitted in the past month.

my question is: as i can't leave my current employer until earliest 21st sept - would arriving in Madrid and starting to look for work then be too late? financially i can support myself for a month or so sin trabajando, but i need some hope that i'll find a teaching post.... Crying or Very sad

You'll make things harder on yourself if you arrive around that time, but to be honest, you can find work all year in Madrid.

there are schools that hire year-round

your qualifications should be enough to get you a job, when I arrived I didnt have a CELTA or teaching experience, I only had a degree and a TEFL certificate

best

Many of my mates last year were doing a CELTA until the end of September and they all found work without any bother. The earlier youre here the better, obviously, but courses dont really get going until the third week of September anyway, and often later. Ive been here a year, and there doesnt seem to be to much problem getting work anytime (except July and August of course). The wages are rubbish though, so bring as much cash as you can!

That's right, overall the wages are not very high but if you work at a good school you can make enough money to live a decent life. OF course you won't be able to save a lot of money but I doubt that's the reason most people go to Spain anyway.

That's good advice....bring cash! But I suppose you could give this advice for every country, not just Spain Smile
