Kochi is a pretty rural prefecture with warm friendly people.
Nakamura is a small laid back rural city.
The nightlife is pretty slow (in my opinion).
There's an old country bumpkin train station. (It's the end of
the line station).
On the plus side, it's a cool surf town!
You have surf spots in Nakamura and places to
hit up in the neighboring towns of Ogata and Tosa-Shimizu.
-I highly recommend Ooki Kaigan (Big Beach) near Tosa Shimizu.
-Hirano is the nearest and most popular beach in Nakamura.
Also Nakamura is at the mouth of the very famous Shimanto River.
It's one, of the last 3 large rivers, that hasn't been destroyed by
a dam. It's very clean and beautiful.
Many old people who like to drink live there.
Congratulations. |

Climate is warm and humid but the pacific breezes mean that it feels less hot than some of the cities further north (eg Okayama). In August we've hit 38 with 85% humidity but 30-32 is more common. Main problem is the humidity but at least you won't need any moisturiser
Not familiar with Nakamura-shi. Kochi-shi is pretty laid back, the natives are friendly and the beer never runs out. Oh by the way the waves today were 25m. but that was just because of the typhoon; you'll love it here, probably...
