Is it better to do a part time CELTA (lasting a year) in UK or do the intensive courses elsewhere?
Do you stand more chance of getting a job if you're 'in situ' as it were? |

I believe that both have equal merits. I did a part-time course over 31 Fridays leading to the award of the Trinity College (London) Certificate in TESOL at my local adult education centre before teaching two summer schools in southern England and then coming to China. That was three years ago.
If you are really keen to kick-start your TESOL career ASAP, then an intensive course, either in-situ or back home, could be the thing for you. Many in-situ course providers promise you that you will be guaranteed jobs after the end of your course, though someone who's been there and done that would be better able to comment on this than me. |

Hi
I did the CELTA in 4 weeks back in July in Cornwall. It's stimulating and fun but SO intense. I think the fewer variables and unknowns you have to deal with the more you can focus on the course itself.
Best of luck.

And the job will be in China for 2000-3000 yuan a month working a 30-40 hour week. |
