Laughing
a little humour to ease your grumpy minds.............

Ikea is known for simple, reasonably priced products. oops not that story that one is under the SAUDI section..

this one is for y'all.

Doctors:
A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human services and is a
conservative number.

Now think about this:

Guns:
A> The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
Yes, that is 80 million.

B. The number of accidental gun deaths per year,
all age groups, is 1,500.

C. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.0000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun
owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.
We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on
lawyers
for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical
attention.

Skewed statistics, so obvious it's not clever or funny. How many total deaths is the more important quesition.

Okay Mr. Pro-Gun man. Here's a little lesson for you:

A pencil is a tool.

The main function of a pencil is to write something.

A shoehorn is a tool.

The main function of a shoehorn is to help you put your shoes on.

A gun is a tool.

The main function of a gun is to kill.

Why should anyone in the public be allowed to carry around killing tools?

clearly the three above posters need to retire from TESL teaching.
perhaps you are great teachers but for the sake of your co-workers
RETIRE.

You all lack any sense of humour...how terribly SAD. Sad
In addition i suspect the three of you haven't
been laid in a long while:oops:

Like many of my colleagues, whom I also wish would retire, and allow some inexperienced
freshly graduated TESLers in the door. Arrow Wink ..because from my vast experience
they are the ones not yet burnt out.

Go have a cool hard one on me...and pm me your I>O>U>..i'm generally good for it Confused

I found a brief bit of humour in the beginning, but I found no humour what-so-ever about the doctor vs. guns story.

If you (or whoever originally wrote this doctor vs. guns thing) used real statistics and didn't make up "facts" maybe I might have seen it for what you intended it to be: humour.

But the original writer wrote it not for humour, but as a way to promote a political agenda: Pro-gun propaganda.

The facts are even way too distorted. More people die from the intentional use of hand guns in the US than from the intentional hands of doctors. ACCIDENTAL deaths are a whole different kettle of fish.

That is why I found no humour in it. It was written to be a political cog in someone's political agenda machine.

I find Jack Tripper far funnier.....

well Wfiner or is it weiner.

clearly you attcked my post as it was funny and bright and you
felt angry.

how do i know you are an angry fellow ... i went and read
some of your posts.

I was especially curious at your views on WOMEN, when you suggested
that your current employer should kill his wife, and i quote I think he should just poison the old sow.

you did mean KILL her didn't you.

funny how you did not suggest that the men cheating on the women should be killed in turn.

Must be all the rejection you continually suffer Crying or Very sad

Seriously, Keep your soap box in your closet. You do live in one don't you.
Clearly looking at your comments on evesdropping on women and how easy asian women are etc..you are the bottom of the barrel.

Hey Doble Agent:

I don't get it. You were pretty quick to dump over three people, and tell them to lighten up and get a sense of humour.
Yet, when someone returns the favour, you seem to lose your cool and get angry...

What gives?

The problem isn't that we don't have a sense of humour, it's that it just wasn't funny or clever. Don't quit your day job.

How many accidental and not so accidental deaths have been prevented by doctors.

what gives is that WHINER took a stance on anti violence.
My stance is not pro violence and the piece is FUNNY.

When I wondered whom I offended I looked at Whiners past post by reading his profile. In his profile he suggest, the murder of women by posion. He has thought about it clearly. His piece was NOT done in comedy as mine - stated at the begining - was.

He was doing a piece on the typical Chinese family, and goes on and on about how much he hates women in it. I found it unnerving, and surprised it wasnt pulled from the board.

As a teacher, I am sensitive, culturally, and morally, and when I discovered the lunatic standing on the soap box is full of verbal attacks and repressed violence, I knew I was dealing with someone who has issues.

I would be afraid of hiring a WHINER and having him teach Asian girls knowing what lays seething in his mind. Sad case.

For the more recent posters who have not read his past post by have
decided I did not have a sense of humour are just like CLERICS who want films banned without knowing the content. Ignorance.

Double Agent:

Give me a freakin' break! Below is the post you have referenced. I find nothing misogynistic about the post...I didn't find it offensive at all either. However, I will let others judge for themselves:

Quote:

Great Wall of Whiner say...

Family one:

Husband, 33 (policeman)
Wife, 30 (Architect's secretary)
Daughter, 7 (student)

The husband has a girlfriend, and the wife can't do anything about it. Sure she wants a divorce. After all, her husband goes out partying, comes home drunk, and then expects his wife to do what he wants to do.

The wife refuses, so he hits her, and does what he wants anyways.

The wife can't do anything about it because she cares too much for her daughter to break the family up. Also if she leaves him, the daughter's future would be questionable.

His words: "If you leave me, you get not one fen from me"

The husband also physically abuses the girl (I have seen him pop the daughter in the nose, and also throw her from one side of a room to another) when her tests are lousy.

The wife said she would lose face and guanxi if she divorced him because her parents are good friends with his parents.

Family two:

Husband, 35 I think (involved in construction)
Wife, 33 (Computer network engineer)
Daughter, 9 (student)

The husband goes to Inner Mongolia for 6 months at a time during the warm season to work. This leaves the mother and daughter alone.

They spend time studying English together (I swear this girl would pass as a little English girl her English is that good).

The mother knows what her hubby is doing in Inner Mongolia. She is 100% sure something is going on, but she never told me how she knew (she just said "trust me, I know").

STD/VD? I suspected it, but I would never ask her of course.

As for divorce, it's the same story. "If you leave me, you get not one fen from me!"

Also she loves her husband (he's actually a good-looking guy, as far as Chinese guys go). But, she said she would divorce him if she wouldn't lose face.

Family three:

Husband, 47 (my boss)
Wife, 42 (my boss' wife)
Son, 15 (student)

In this case, the roles are reversed. The wife is the cheater. My boss has little spine when it comes to standing up to his greedy wife.

She often goes on holidays around the country, spends my boss' hard-earned money, and everyone knows she is off galavanting with much younger men (even tried to seduce me!!)

He can't divorce her. He is a businessman. People would wonder "Hmm..he can't manage a marrage, how can he manage a school?" and also people would worry that he has too much on his mind to be an effective teacher.

I think he should just poison the old sow.

Family four:

Husband, 24 (hardware store owner)
Wife, 22 (hardware store owner's wife)
No children, but abortion because it wasn't a boy

The husband was a friend of mine until I discovered that he is such a *beep* and does not deserve to have the wife that he has. He is an animal that should be locked away.

He runs a shop near my home and I often go there to get things I need (nails, tools, etc.). But after a few weeks of drinking with him, and a very horrible night of visiting their home to play cards, I severed all relationship with the guy.

He orders his wife around like a waitress, and even (jokingly??) calls her fu yai 9 (waitress). But when I saw then get into an arguement and then him backhanding her across the face, that was it.

I suddenly became sleepy, and went home. (I know better than to interfere in domestic affairs of others in Asia. My friend tried it once in Korea. HE was arrested for assault.)

So there are four experiences I can share with you.

It probably comes down to the abused spouse not wanting to lose face.

For whatever it is worth, the piece regarding doctors vs. guns isn't particularly clever or funny, and this is coming from a guy that likes guns!

Cheers,
Kirk

What's wrong with you guys? No sx in your lives? Don't listen to George Carlin or Jeff Foxworthy if you are one of the panzy people who are 'easily offended'!
