Do any of you have information about health clubs for women in Dhahran?
I''ll be staying at KFUPM, but I don't know what fitness activities are available in addition to swimming..
Should I bring my own exercise equipment, or sell and purchase when I arrive there?
Thanks |

Make friends in Aramco that is my advice ! You can buy anything you might need in the way of equipment in Khobar or Dammam. Do not bring anything. Freight is expensive !
KFUPM is not such a bad place. It is not Aramco but it is better than living in an apartment block downtown ! |

The Meridian Hotel in Khobar has special hours on Friday AM for women. I think the Dhahran International Hotel might also have special hours.
Buddying up to a group of Aramco wives is also a good idea. Everyone is supposed to show ID entering their facilities, but in practice, women often pass, especially in groups.
If you're buying, you can get decent equipment of chinese or phillipine manufacture new or used (used from me in a few months if you like).
Many other compounds have exercise equipment. It's really just a matter of getting acquainted with folks who live there (like by hooking up with the Hash House Harriers or one of the running groups on the Aramco Compound).
Best of luck.
It's not a very friendly place here any more (if ever it was)
