Does anybody here frequent any other forums? I'll certainly come here for all my teaching related questions but there are lots of other things related to living in Japan that I want to talk about but this doesn't seem like the appropriate place because of the posting restrictions (ie. All non-teaching related posts will be deleted)

Basically what I'm looking for is something exactly like what the Korean forums are only for Japan. Does anyone have any suggestions?

That warning was posted on the general forum because it was getting bogged down with political threads that just turned into name-calling. The other fora, possibly because they have fewer visitors, tend not to get bogged down as much and so do not seem to have the strict "teaching only" guidelines enforced. The Japan forum has all manner of threads related to teaching, living, finding good food, dating, shopping, driving, etc. Go ahead and ask your questions there.

You could also try http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com/. From what I've seen, though, it is more related to travel than to living or working in different countries.
