Here ya go........
"TWO privately funded schools in Guangzhou were closed by Guangzhou education authorities Wednesday for not having qualification permits and licenses for running schools.
The two schools, Guoqiang School and Guanghao Primary School, were surrounded by nearly 30 police Wednesday, the first day of the new semester, the New Express said." |

Good to know about. I guess that's a new thing to look into when looking at teaching at a school. Looks like the authorities are handling things well with the transfers and refunds. |

Migo, I doubt it that the authorities are doing anything. 2 schools only involved.
For instance, there are over 2000 schools in Beijing alone and 270 are registered. The government is not going to close down these non registered schools.
I would say the schools above did something quite wrong to the government officials to get closed down.
Just like the regular crackdown on the DVD or CD pirating once a month. These illegal pirates have not paid off the local officials or done something wrong by the local authorities. |

How about you read the news report before stating your doubts. Just a suggestion.... |

Migoo,
You don't have to get all defensive because I disagree with you!
I will rephrase my comment 'I don't think the authorities ARE DOING MUCH!' |

They probably didn't pay them their bribes on time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
TWO privately funded schools in Guangzhou were closed by Guangzhou education authorities Wednesday for not having qualification permits and licenses for running schools.
The two schools, Guoqiang School and Guanghao Primary School, were surrounded by nearly 30 police Wednesday, the first day of the new semester, the New Express said.
The Baiyun District Education Bureau put up notices saying Guoqiang School and Guanghao Primary School pupils would be transferred seven schools nearby.
Students in Guoqiang School had paid 1,200 yuan (US$ 145) tuition fee. Some parents complained that they were told too late, saying the education bureau should have announced the closures before enrollment.
An official of the Baiyun District Publicity Department of the CPC said the education authorities had put up notices many times, but they were quickly torn down by someone.
Education authorities will refund the tuition fees to parents and teachers would be transferred to nearby schools.
