Here are some schools to help you begin your search for a job in Saigon. I am not recommending them as schools or in any other way, but they will get you started. There is other advice following the list.

AUSP (hires people with no experience; doesn't pay well -- c. $12/hr.)

SITC International English School (They will give you a test of language skills and ask you to outline a lesson in about 30 minutes or so. The test itself has many errors in English. Run by Singaporeans. They may want you to demonstrate a lesson with about five minutes notice.)

Further advice:

1. There are many, many other schools in the city. To find them, you can hire a taxi or motorbike driver to ride up and down the major thoroughfares such as Dien Bien Phu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Vo Thi Sau, etc. You will see advertisements for English language schools. At this point the best thing is probably to make a note of the address, then come back later. If you find one language school, there is probably another within three or four blocks. That is one reason I listed these schools -- even though they may not be the one you want, just finding them will lead you to other schools nearby.

2. Pick up a Vietnamese language newspaper. You will not understand one single word in the articles, but many newspapers have advertisements for English schools. These you will be able to tell by the name of the school or the word English or Anh (which means English in Vietnamese).

3. Appearance is very important. Get a nice shirt, a silk tie, pressed trousers, and a briefcase, or the woman's equivalent thereof. Have a nice-looking resume. They may interview you immediately, so treat your visit as a job interview and be prepared to answer questions. One question they will probably have is how long you plan to stay in Vietnam.
