Hey, my wife and I just called the taiwan "consulate" in belgium to inquire about getting a 60 day visa. We were told that we need a proof of funds (but weren't told how much funds), or a letter from an employer stating that we could support ourselves for the time there. we have just finished a year of volunteering in west africa and don't have an employer though. How do we get around that? They also told us that we need an address of someone or somewhere we are staying. Do we need an actual hotel reservation or can we just write down the name of a random place?
We are probably going to be flying through Hong Kong on our way to taipei, will it be easy(er) to stop off for a day and get our visa there? What documents do the consulate in hong kong require for issuing a 60day visa?
We are getting a short return flight and not using the return portion of our ticket and I'm assuming that we will have to go on a visa run to Hong Kong at some point. When we go on a visa run will we have to then buy a return ticket when we are in Hong Kong since our return ticket out of taiwan will have expired?
Lastly, I read a thread a while back about the ARC regulations changing october 1st, anyone have any info regarding that now that we're in october?
Thanks for any info, cheers |

No offence intended, but all of the questions you have asked have already been answered just recently on this forum. You could conduct a keyword search and find the answers that you need. |

Unfortunately the visa application process is in a state of flux. Taiwan's defacto embassies are similar to any other government agency of the Republic of China. They are lazy, incompetent and tend to give answers that will cause them to do the least amount of effort.
Book your ticket through a travel agent and apply for a tourist visa for business purposes. Tell the agent you won't pay for the ticket unless you get the visa you want.
Good luck and please read this.
