I read that the Ministry of Education is looking for teachers for rural schools. Who do I contact to apply?
Also, I'm American, my wife is Japanese, and our three-year-old is both. Are they likely to have trouble making friends, etc. because of Japan's colonial past?

The little town I lived in had a Taiwanese doctor whose wife was from Japan. They had two sons. Everything seemed hunkydory with them, although the doctor was bored with small town life. |

I have a half-Japanese half-Taiwanese girl in one of my classes. The kids admire her. Everything Japanese is cool here! |

Sounds good. Thanks steevieboy and JosephP.
Anybody know who I contact to apply? I've emailed the Ministry of Education in Taipei but no reply so far.
