Has anyone found a possible way of lying about ones age on a job application? I could always introduce some typographical errors into my CV, but if anyone wanted to see original certificates I would be rumbled. I cant explain how I graduated from university at the age of three. Any ruses people have used successfully?

Why not just put N/A--which the reader can interpret as either Not Applicable or No Age....?

Heh. Figure: Sooner or later they're going to get a look at your passport.

If there is sufficient space, why not NOYDB...?

I haven't filled out an application in years....

A 3 looks a lot like an 8 if that helps. Wink

I haven't lied about my age --not yet anyway--but I have been known to fudge the dates on previous employment. Everyone does this -it's called spindoctoring....Even professionals do this. (Not that we aren't professionals here,) Suggest you were "in management" that sort of thing. Make a lot of references to IT skills and "professional development." I also like to parachute in words like pscyhology and workforce.

As for age though I don't know. If they hire you they will find out the truth. But lying might get your foot in the door. Perhaps doctor a photocopy of your passport???

Disclaimer: The words lagerlout2006 does not appear on my CV.

It's one of the ten most common techniques of propaganda to say: everybody does it (with the obvious implication that if everybody does it, you should do it as well.) The truth is, that Lagerlout's group of admired people do it all the time, and since he wants to be part of that group....

Our inclusion needs can lead us into some real quagmires.

Can't say what happens in other countries, but if you are caught with falsified credentials in Japan, you risk deportation, fines, detention for 3 weeks without a lawyer, imprisonment, and being blacklisted from returning for 5 or 10 years. Is it worth it?

Every single damn comma on my CV/resume is accurate and anyone's whose isn't should be fired upon discovery and immigration status cancelled.

Nice black and white thinking there. UNfortunately, the rest of the population lives in a world of gray....

People on this forum make all sorts of outrageous claims about education experience etc.. And now you say padding the CV is unacceptable?

I'd like to see the collected CV's from folks on this forum. I'm sure it would make the NY Times bestseller Fiction list.

Lout:

You have more confidence in the creativity of the folks who contribute to this forum than is warranted.
