|
|
Hi folks
Anyone else had any problems getting a tarjeta de residencia? I queued at the Oficina de Extrajeneros, (perdoneme par hablar tan mal el espanol), filled in all the requisite forms, and was told Id have to wait 1 - 2 months for an invitation to go back and get my tarjeta. This is a pain because Id like to open a residential bank account.
Im told that a non-residents bank account is costly with commissions etc.
Any reasonable advice most welcome.
Cheers.

Have you tried a savings bank? In my opinion Caixa Catalunya is pretty good. I don't believe there is any cost for opening an account with them and I think the commission is about the same as that for a residential account. Although it is a Catalan savings bank, there are branches all over the Spain. https://www.caixacatalunya.es/caixacat/eng/ccpublic/particulars/default.htm

Hello, Ive got to sort out a bank account this year: my friends have told me they were able to open accounts with just the dni number they give you on the form you get when you first apply (not all banks accept this, but just go around until one does) as the card will take several months to arrive. Pay slips help too apparently if youre here to work... |

Hi Moore
Only problem is that I was also told Id have to wait 40 days from my application date just to get my DNI number. Anyhow, Im managing for the timebeing. Ill have a work contract in October and hopefully, by then, at least my number will have arrived. Perhaps I went there on an exceptionally busy day.

If youve got anything like the pitiful number of hours work for this month that I have then you wont really have any money to put in there for forty days anyway...! |

Hi. the dni (nie) number on the letter means you actually have residency if you are EU, I found out last year from the British consulate in Barcelona but the authorities forgot to tell anyone (banks, employers etc). And your employer can still give you a contract while you are waiting for the number (this has happened to a few friends).
It took me months to get the card its normal. |

Thanks for the info. Im going to see my employer to try and get these things sorted tomorrow morning. Im sure theyve seen it all before.
Im looking forward to getting working soon.

I just got a bank account opened with nothing more than my passport number! I don't even think I'm getting a tarjeta de residencia, although I am getting some kind of card. Getting registered with the local town hall was important too...
Good luck!
