Hi there.
I'm currently doing a BA majoring in English literary studies in Australia. I plan to do a DipEd after this in order to become a secondary school teacher.
I have the opportunity of taking up Indonesian as a second major which would make me eligible to teach LOTE (Indonesian) in secondary schools.
My question is: is there a demand for LOTE teachers in Australian schools? Would being able to teach English and Indonesian give me wider employment opportunities?

I'm not sure about the demand for teachers, but most schools where I grew up in Victoria teach Indonesian as a second language and yes, there will always be a need for LOTE teachers. At least you will have something (Indo skills) that other teachers wont, the competition for English, computer etc teachers will be much higher.
