It seems that people here are very knowledgable about the teaching scene in so many places.
My question is for those who have taught English in Istanbul, what are the top 10 schools for teaching English in Istanbul? I've heard about Dilko, English Centre, and English Time. Please consider wages, teacher/management relations, students, off-days, and whatever else you may find interesting.
I am truly interested in what you may have to say. I am contemplating teaching English in Istanbul while continuing my academic pursuits.
Thanks in advance!

B. Copeland,
While it isn't necessarily a bad idea to post this under the "General Discussion" forum, I think you might have better luck posting your query in the "Turkey" forum.
Best of luck,

I agree with the captain. It should be a Turkey forum question but I'll still answer. English Centre,IH and Interlang were the best schools but the owners of the schools are abit like the Mafia. They set the price of the courses and teachers'salaries and so recently they aren't the best places to work. Conditions aren't as good as they were.
The reason for their demise is due to English Time. They are taking over big time. English Time isn't the fussiest of employers and do take on "backpacker teachers" so they pay less. Hence other scools follow their lead. Istanbul isn't the playground it used to be. The best jobs are to be found in the universities(or my job-but I ain't leaving) |
