I spoke to the Taiwan embassy and asked about the multiple entry visa. She told me that the ARC acts as a multiple entry visa so not to worrie save my money.
Once I get employed the school will issue me an ARC, I can come and go as I please with my ARC. Is this correct? I want to believe that coming from the embassy its legit. Can someone clarify this for me please.

Unfortunately the Taiwan non Embassies are notoriously ignorant of domestic policies on Taiwan pertaining to visa applications and restrictions.
Get a Multiple Entry Visa for business purposes. I have never heard of a sticker for a visa. You will either have the visa stamped into your passport there or be given a document that you can use to apply for the M.E. visa when you arrive and proceed through customs here in Taiwan.
If the Teco office (Taiwan non-Embassy) you communicated with won't give you the visa try using a travel agent and tell them you won't pay for the ticket unless you get a multiple entry visa.
Please read this,

Good luck,
A.

Yes, that is true. Get a two month visa and just come over. When your ARC is issued through your school a STICKER with MULTIPLE ENTRY will be placed in your passport to allow you to come and go as you please.

The multiple entry sticker is only valid for the life of the ARC.

.

1. Every one of my Taiwan visas has been a full page sticker in my passport.

2. The multiple entry sticker is in addition to the visa & allows you er...........multiple entry.

Take another look Aristotle.

I assume that you are now talking about the Multiple Re-Entry permit which is not a visa. Technically visas are a legal document that give you certain legal rights. The Multiple Re- entry Permit and ARC do not give you any rights and can be canceled by just about anyone in authority without even so much as a nod from the judiciary. A visa on the other hand usually requires some sort of legal mechanism to be used for alterations or cancellations. One of the reasons Taiwan gives permits and certificates instead of visas, to ensure that you have no legal rights on Taiwan.
I suppose you could describe that as a sticker with a seal on it.
Good luck,
A.

I'd like to know specifically what rights a tourist visa gives you. An ARC/ resident visa is the only class of document that gives you any rights. What rights? Property rights, the ability to enter into contracts, the legal ability to work. These are just a few. Perhaps you'd like to enlighten everyone just how working here under false pretences gives you rights.

Aristotle is clearly out of touch. Makes me wonder what sort of advice he must be giving members of his secret society, and reinforces the reason why such pseudo-socities such as his are illegal in this country. Afterall, you wouldn't want to provide them with any official support if his comments here are anything to go on.

You're not making much sense here. All of the 'stickers' in my passport are clearly visas, and are marked as such. Visitors and Resident Visas to Taiwan are all now like this, as the sticker enables the authorities to include a computer generated photo of you on your visa and a watermark within the visa for extra security. Surely this makes this type of visa far more superior than a stamp. Does the fact that you are totally unaware of any of this have anything to do with the fact that you are in Taiwan illegally without even a visa in your passport?

The multiple re-rentry permit is a seperate piece of paper in your passport. The ARC is a totally seperate document that has nothing to do with your passport. Neither of these documents has any relevance for you staying in Taiwan, as they are both based upon your visa. If your visa gets cancelled, then the other two documents are automatically cancelled. As you seem to agree that the visa needs some legal process to be cancelled then you are no doubt in agreeance that there is security in working in Taiwan legally. This seems to go against what you promote on your website!!

Although the terminology maybe a little off, this is essentially correct and this is the information I gave. Thats what this forum is about isn't it? About dispensing helpful advice?

Aristotle on the other hand rambles on about things that are not relevant to the topic or clearly false.

Both visas and residency permits are privileges given to foreign nationals allowing them to enter a country and either visit / work for a certain period of time as long as they follow the laws of that country.

They are both privileges, but a residence permit gives larger concessions and freedoms than does a visa.

Did somebody say it was a visa? Not me. Read the posts

Aristotle how would you describe a piece of paper that is sticky on one side and sticks in your passport?

You are welcome.
Remember to keep in mind that there is only one consistency on Taiwan concerning rules, regulations and laws. There are no consistencies.
Good luck,
A.
